If you’re seeing the message “Key battery low replace soon” on the dash, it’s time to change the battery in your Mustang’s key fob. It’s a simple fix and shouldn’t take more than a few minutes.
What you’ll need:
- 3V CR 2450 Battery
- A thin coin
- Paperclip or small screwdriver
To access the battery, press the small button at the bottom of the key fob. This will release the key blade, which can slide out and be set aside.
Turn the fob over and you’ll see a rectangular slot.
Using a coin, push into the slot and twist until you feel the faceplate of the key fob detach. Gently pull it away to reveal the battery compartment.
Use a paperclip or small screwdriver and insert it into the small groove shown below. This will let you leverage the battery out of the fob.
Simply insert a new battery and clip the faceplate back on. Now your key fob should be good for at least another couple years of use.
This is very informative and I’m going to do it tomorrow>!
Thank you
